Buffy Owens, Founder & Feldenkrais Practitioner

Buffy Owens, the founder of A Space to Grow and Conscious Movements, is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner (G.C.F. P.) with over 15 years experience in the mind-body fields. She is admittedly addicted to the art of learning and the wonders of meditation and mindfulness practices. She also takes particular joy in supporting people along their path to less pain, greater self-discovery, and in enhancing the lives of children with special needs & extraordinary gifts.

Buffy’s commitment to the study and practice of the mind-body arts dates back to 1995, when she first began her studies as a massage therapist. It was then, as she studied the anatomy and physiology of the human body, that she began to explore the spirit that moves the form through meditation and awareness based movement practices.

Eventually she traded in her massage table for more academic pursuits— earning a degree in Kinesiology with special emphasis in Psychology & Neuroscience. Upon graduation, Buffy went on to completed an extensive four year professional training program in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education. She now merges her practical training in movement education and academic studies with her passion for helping curious people just like you to find yourself in motion.

Private Sessions


In this Initial Feldenkrais Consultation we will have a conversation with some leading questions, do a brief hands-on evaluation, and a short Awareness Through Movement exploration. Basically, we will explore a bit of both aspects of the Fekdenkrais Method so that you have a feel for what happens both in the group classes and in the private sessions.

I will give you my honest opinion for what is possible and together we come up with a plan that works for you. This could include private sessions, classes, a combination of the two or referral out. 90-minutes.

The Conscious Reading Club

The Conscious Reading Club meets every six to eight weeks to discuss a book of choice and book topics generally relate to Somatic Movement, Neuroplasticity, Trauma or Mindfulness.

The proof has been in the proverbial pudding: I have significantly reduced the # of medications I take/took regularly and have cut way back on the dosages of others. There has been such a reduction in pain overall that I was able to do things I hadn’t done in years, even decades, including riding my bicycle, cooking, and my main love, playing guitar. I first came to Buffy for personal training after my son was born in 2003. She helped reintroduce me to my abdominal muscles. Since then I have seen her as a Feldenkrais practitioner for postural issues and injuries. I love to Crossfit and I was having sore knees.
